Godwit House

Carefully considered for its environmental impact, we are proud to deliver the award winning and most northerly Passivhaus in England.

Godwit House is a new build set within the picturesque village of Warkworth in Northumberland. Due to its inverted living design the upstairs open plan living area comes complete with amazing views over Amble harbour and the Coquet Estuary, perfect for nature watching or an early morning sunrise.

Godwit meets all criteria for a Passivhaus and the air tightness value of 0.15ACH far exceeds the Passivhaus standard of O.6ACH creating a low energy and low-cost home to run for our client.

It became a certified Passivhaus in 2022 and in recognition of its outstanding design and performance, the project was awarded Residential Project of the Year at the Constructing Excellence North East Awards 2022.

A Passivhaus building is designed to use considerably less energy in comparison to a similarly-sized building created using conventional techniques, irrespective of the climate.

The Passivhaus Institute is a German-based independent research institute founded in 1995 by Dr Wolfgang Feist. They played an important role in the development of the Passivhaus concept and have gone on to become a leading authority on the research and development of construction methods, building materials, planning tools and quality assurance needed to produce highly energy-efficient buildings.
