True North Construction is a North East based business established in February 2019

The business is run by David Roberts and Steven Henderson who have over 40 years joint experience in the building trade. We are supported by our ever-growing team of skilled tradesmen and office-based staff. True North Construction has built a solid reputation for delivering a superior bespoke service across the North East.

We specialise in delivering both contemporary and modern high-end extensions, refurbishments and bespoke new builds across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham as well as being one of the few regional and award-winning specialists in the construction of certified Passivhaus homes. Our team of dedicated professionals bring decades of combined experience, expertise and passion to every project, ensuring unparalleled craftsmanship and client satisfaction.

True North work tirelessly to produce a high-quality bespoke finish whilst managing the delivery of the project – on time, safely and within budget. We do this by developing close working relationships with our clients, other local trades and architects. We are passionate about the use of novel building materials and techniques and have vast experience working with environmentally conscious products.

Meet our team
David

Director

David is one of our two directors at True North Construction. David brings a wealth of knowledge and hands on expertise to each project.  David works well with our clients and has a passion for moving the business forward aswell as developing our Passivhaus building strategy. David enjoys his family time, a round of golf and the odd ginger snap here and there.

 
Steven

Director

Steven is one of our two directors. He loves to be hands on onsite with the lads and has an eye for detail. Steven is an expert at getting the team to produce the high-quality finish that True North is well known for. Steven enjoys family time, fishing and golf. His favourite food is Greggs, and his favourite song is Welcome to Miami by Will Smith.

 
Laura

Business Development Manager  

Laura has been part of True North since the beginning, mainly hiding in the background, until summer 2022 when she joined the team officially. Laura is a crucial member of the True North team providing support with health & safety, job planning and finance.  Laura enjoys watching NUFC and walking her dog.
Natalie

Office Manager

Natalie joined True North in 2021 as administrative support but has really been here since day one. She quickly developed an efficient organisation system to control the financial side of the business. She is a whizz at payroll and pensions and is our go to HR department.  Natalie’s favourite food is fajitas and she enjoys spa days.
James

Site Manager 

James is one of our Site Managers and is currently Managing our stick build timber frame Passivhaus in Tynemouth – James has over 20 Years experience in the construction industry and is a key figure in our team here at True North. James enjoys football and foreign travel. 

 

 
Keith

Site Manager

Keith is one of our site managers and has been with True North since the beginning. He is a very experienced joiner and safe pair of hands. He has shown great skill and patience working with our apprentices and is a key part of their development at work.  Keith is a big fan of hot n’ spicy foods.

 
Andy

Site Manager

Andy Duncan has recently  joined our team as a Site Manager and is showing a good eye for Health and Safety. Andy brings over 20 years of joinery experience and knowledge to True North Construction. Andy Enjoys spending time at the gym. 

 
Tayler

Contracts Manager

Tayler is our Contracts Manager and brings over       18 Years of experience in the commercial construction sector, his roles include overseeing our projects, leading staff development, and heading up our health and safety team. Tayler is keen on Fitness and spending time with his family.  
Jack

Supervisor

Jack joined True North in late 2023 and quickly fit into the True North family. As a qualified joiner with site management experience, he is proving to be a valuable asset to the company.  Jack’s favourite food is Carbonara and favourite film is Back to the Future

 
Jamie

Supervisor

Jamie joined True North as a groundworker in 2023. He brings with him over 18 years of experience across the private and commercial sectors of construction and has been a great asset to True North fitting in well in a site supervisory role.  Jamie’s favourite film is Gladiator and he enjoys going to the Pub.

 
Jimmy

Supervisor

Jimmy is one of our Site Supervisors . Jimmy is joiner by trade but always ready to muck in and help out with any task and after 8 years living in Australia Jimmy has returned home. Jimmy’s favourite food is toad in the hole, and he enjoys watching wrestling and NUFC.

 

 
Harry

Joiner

Harry has been at True North since the start, becoming our first ever employee. Harry is a very popular member of the team and great asset. Harry is one to watch for the future and we are excited for what he will bring to the table. Harry enjoys following NUFC home and away.
connor 

Multi Trade 

Connor is a long serving member of the team. Connor is multi skilled and can turn his hand to anything, he is always happy to help where needed and is a pleasure to work alongside. Connor enjoys fishing current affairs. 

 
Mick

Joiner 

Mick is our finishing joiner; he can be found mostly in our workshop. He produced work for both True North Construction and our furniture company True North Bespoke. Mick is highly skilled and produces high quality work to millimetre perfection. He is always handy to have around if you’re hungry with his bag full of sweets and his trusty toastie maker.

 
Josh

Apprentice Joiner

Josh is one of our apprentice joiners. Josh is a great member of the team and is quickly learning the trade. Josh is currently completing his level 2 in Carpentry and joinery. Josh enjoys the gym, football socialising. 

 
Lee

Apprentice Joiner 

Lee is currently completing his level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery before planning to move onto his level 3 in summer 2024. He is becoming a skilled finishing joiner but enjoys spending time in the workshop and onsite. He always puts the effort in to produce a high-quality job.
ben

Apprentice Brick Layer 

Ben is our our apprentice bricklayer. Ben is a very popular member of the team and is always around to make you laugh. Ben is learning really well and one to look out for in the future. Ben enjoys socialising with his peers and NUFC. 

 
Daniel

Apprentice Joiner

Daniel has just qualified with his level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery and at 6ft 7in he is always useful to have around. Daniel’s favourite TV show is Clarkson’s Farm and favourite food is spaghetti bolognese.

 

 

 
Byron 

Apprentice Joiner

Byron is a new addition to the team, and already has shown a very good attitude and work ethic. Byron enjoys socialising with his friends and NUFC.
