Four Winds is a 279 square metre single storey new build house which replaces an existing seventies bungalow in Northumberland. Planning restricted the height of the building to be no taller than the previous bungalow but with the flat roof on this project it allowed for an internal ceiling height of 3.2m. This height alongside the large triple glazed windows and vast sliding door in the centre of the property has created a light and large internal space that opens up to the external landscaped gardens. The interior is sleek, modern and minimalist, with every finish needing to be millimetre perfect to achieve the line symmetry that is so crucial to the design aesthetic and is visible throughout the property from floor tiles to the shadow gaps, to the windows to the kitchen island. Everything from the heating to the blinds to the surround sound system runs via the smart home system. This home also features a ground source heat pump, MVHR and solar panels on the roof, continuous underfloor heating and a wood burning stove to create a warm and cosy living space that remains future-proofed.
Four Winds also displays a lot of bespoke internal joinery, supplied and fitted by True North Bespoke and all designed by the client with their comfort and personal requirements in mind. We worked with both Fenix and Querkus to create the kitchen and utility units and worktop as well as the office and bedroom furniture.
